The College of Engineering hosts a session on the Dubai International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development
The College of Engineering, in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Bahrain, organised an introductory session on the 14th cycle of the Dubai International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development.
The session aimed to familiarise participants with the objectives of the award and the procedures for submitting applications.
The session was led by Ms Rawan Qamhi, Communication Specialist at UN-Habitat Bahrain, who outlined the award’s main criteria and focus areas. She emphasised the importance of aligning proposed projects with international sustainability standards to enhance their chances of success in the global competition.
The event offered participants a valuable opportunity to understand how to develop their projects in conjunction with global best practices. They were also introduced to successful models from previous award-winning initiatives, helping to inspire creativity and strengthen their capabilities in sustainable development fields.
This initiative forms part of the university’s ongoing efforts to raise sustainability awareness, encourage students to engage in overseas initiatives, enrich their practical skills, and reinforce their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) locally and regionally.
