
Sustaining Knowledge in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: University Participates in the 28th Annual Conference of the Special Libraries Association, Arabian Gulf Chapter
The University, represented by Dr Ammar Jalamneh, Director of the Library and Information Services Directorate and Associate Professor in the Department of General Studies, participated in the 28th Annual Conference of the Special Libraries Association, Arabian Gulf Chapter (SLA-AGC), held in collaboration with the Libraries Commission at the Ministry of Culture under the theme “Towards Knowledge Sustainability and the Preservation of Culture and Heritage: Managing Rare Documents, Manuscripts, and Heritage Materials in the Era of Emerging Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.”
The three-day conference brought together distinguished academics, experts, and professionals in the field of libraries and information science from across the Gulf region and the Arab world. It featured 80 research papers and scientific presentations across 19 academic sessions, in addition to the opening and closing sessions.
Conference discussions focused on the application of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in safeguarding cultural heritage, managing rare documents and manuscripts, and promoting knowledge sustainability within academic and cultural institutions. Sessions also highlighted the importance of developing the skills of library and information professionals to keep pace with rapid digital transformation.
The University’s participation in this prominent regional event reflected its commitment to active engagement in scientific and professional forums and its dedication to knowledge exchange with regional and international institutions. This engagement contributes to the continued development of university library systems and reinforces their role as centres of knowledge, research, and innovation.
