The programme is designed to holders of a diploma or associate degree from the Kingdom of Bahrain or its equivalent from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, provided the relevant authorities accredit the qualification in the issuing country.
The students study the discipline of Civil Engineering to Honors degree level and to have the opportunity to achieve the professional status of Chartered Engineer. This programme is designed to embrace developments in the industry, in particular the ECUK UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).
Upon successful completion of the degree programme, a student will be awarded two sets of certificates and transcripts – one from LSBU and one from ASU.

The BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering Bridging Programme is designed to achieve the following five core aims for our graduates:

- Critical and Creative Thinkers: To develop graduates’ core intellectual abilities, enabling them to apply analytical, problem-solving, and creative design skills to evaluate complex evidence, form sound judgments, and effectively communicate innovative solutions.
- Leaders in the Built Environment: To cultivate professionals who understand the value of engineering education to society and are prepared for responsible professional employment by recognizing the essential roles of and collaborating effectively with other professions within the built environment.
- Lifelong Learners and Chartered Path: To provide the necessary academic qualification that satisfies the full educational base for becoming a Chartered Engineer and instills a commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

In order to be considered for entry to the programme applicants will be required to have the following qualifications:
Bridging Requirements for Level 5 (Year 3):
- The applicant must hold a diploma or associate degree from the Kingdom of Bahrain or its equivalent from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, provided the relevant authorities accredit the qualification in the issuing country.
- The applicant’s cumulative GPA must not be less than “Good” or its equivalent. If the cumulative GPA is lower than the required minimum, the student must either provide evidence of at least one year of relevant professional experience or pass a number of remedial modules according to the specialization.
- The applicant’s previous specialization must qualify them to study in the programme they wish to join.
- Students holding qualifications from professional or vocational programmes (National Diploma – ND or Higher National Diploma – HND or equivalent) are required to pass a number of remedial modules according to the specialization.
- The applicant must have obtained a score of 6 or higher in IELTS or its equivalent.
- Appropriate English support mechanisms are available based on the initial OOPT test score
