College of Engineering Students Secures Spot in COP30 Simulation Semi-Finals
With great pride, the College of Engineering team has qualified for the semi-finals of the COP30 Simulation, set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, in October 2025, proudly representing the Kingdom of Bahrain among more than 250 students from 65 countries worldwide.
The COP30 Simulation is an international youth initiative organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the British University in Egypt for the fourth consecutive year. The event aims to train students to simulate the work of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), while engaging with pressing global climate issues to enhance their awareness and sense of responsibility towards climate change and sustainable development.
The London South Bank University (LSBU) students’ team at Applied Science University (ASU) showcased outstanding performance during the preliminary rounds held in July and August, with all six members successfully advancing to the semi-finals, a remarkable achievement, especially given that the overall success rate did not exceed 50 per cent.
This achievement underscores the academic excellence and high-quality programmes that the university, which is top-ranked in the Kingdom of Bahrain according to the QS World University Rankings, offers in partnership with the prestigious LSBU. The University continues to provide internationally accredited programmes that foster creativity and innovation, offering a modern learning environment that equips students with both academic and practical skills.
The accomplishment further underscores the university’s commitment to preparing current students and graduates with strong leadership and problem-solving abilities to compete on the global stage and contribute to the realisation of Bahrain’s Vision 2030.
