Terms and Conditions for ASU International School Programmes (Winter, Spring & Summer Schools)
Effective Date: October 26, 2025
By registering for any International School programme (Winter, Spring, or Summer School) at Applied Science University (ASU) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you are under 21 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent as described below.
1. Acceptance of Terms & Electronic Signature
To complete your enrollment, you must indicate acceptance of these Terms & Conditions (for example, by clicking “I Agree” during registration). This action constitutes your electronic signature and creates a binding agreement between you and ASU. Your registration is not finalised until you have agreed to these Terms, which are legally binding on both parties.
2. Personal Capacity; No ASU Agency
Participation in an ASU International School programme is in your personal capacity as a student. You understand that you are not an agent, representative, or employee of ASU, and you may not present yourself as such. These Terms do not create any obligations or duties for ASU beyond what is expressly stated herein.
3. Participant Conduct & Dismissal
You agree to abide by all ASU campus rules, programme guidelines, and the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain during the programme. ASU reserves the right to dismiss any participant from the programme for behavior that is disruptive, unsafe, unlawful, or in violation of ASU’s code of conduct, without any refund. If you are dismissed for misconduct, you will be responsible for any additional costs or travel arrangements resulting from your dismissal.
4. Programme Fees, Payment, and Refund Policy
All programme fees must be paid in full by the deadlines provided to confirm your spot in the programme. Except in the event that ASU cancels the programme, all fees are non-refundable. This means that if you withdraw, fail to attend, or cannot participate for any reason (including inability to obtain a visa or personal circumstances), you will not receive a refund. If ASU cancels the programme in its entirety, participants will receive a full refund of the programme fees paid. ASU’s liability in such a case is limited to refunding the programme fee; the University is not responsible for any additional costs you may have incurred (e.g. airfare, visa processing fees, travel bookings, etc.).
5. Visa and Travel Documents
It is your responsibility to obtain any required entry visa or travel documentation to attend the programme in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Programme fees do not include visa costs, and ASU cannot guarantee the issuance or approval of visas. Upon request, ASU can provide an official invitation or acceptance letter to support your visa application; however, you remain solely responsible for the visa application process and any related expenses. Failure to secure a visa or other travel documents in time for the programme does not entitle you to a refund of programme fees.
6. Travel Health Insurance
All participants are strongly advised to purchase travel and health insurance that covers the duration of your stay in the Kingdom of Bahrain and your participation in the programme. This insurance should at minimum cover medical treatment, hospitalization, and repatriation in case of emergencies.
If you have insurance: You agree to provide proof of your insurance coverage upon request (such as insurer name, policy number, and emergency contact information). ASU may require this information before or during the programme for verification purposes.
If you do not have insurance: You understand and agree that you participate in the programme at your own risk without insurance. You accept full responsibility for any medical costs or other losses you may incur and waive any claims against ASU and the programme organizers for any injury, illness, or other issues arising during your participation.
7. General Release & Waiver of Liability
By participating in the programme, you hereby release and forever discharge ASU, its affiliates, officers, employees, partners, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims or liabilities for losses, injuries, or damages that you may sustain arising out of or relating to your participation in the programme. This general release of liability applies to both known and unknown claims, and it is binding on you as well as your heirs, assigns, and representatives. This release is not an admission of any wrongdoing or liability by ASU. You affirm that you have the authority to enter into this release and that you have not transferred or assigned any claims to a third party.
8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions and any disputes or claims arising from participation in the programme are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain. You agree that the courts of the Kingdom of Bahrain shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any legal proceedings relating to these Terms or the programme. By agreeing to these Terms, you consent to the personal jurisdiction of Bahrain’s courts for resolving such disputes.
9. Entire Agreement & Severability
These Terms & Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and ASU with respect to your participation in the International School program, and they supersede any prior agreements or understandings (whether written or oral) related to the program. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed, and the remainder of the Terms will remain in full force and effect. Nothing in this agreement shall be construed as a waiver of ASU’s legal rights or as an admission of liability on the part of ASU.
10. Age Requirement & Parental/Guardian Consent
Participants are generally expected to be adults capable of independent travel and study. If you are under 21 years of age, you must obtain consent from your parent or legal guardian to enroll in the program. By registering for the program, you confirm that such consent has been obtained and can be provided to ASU upon request. ASU reserves the right to request written proof of parental/guardian permission for any participant under the age of 21. Participants (regardless of age) are required to adhere to all program rules and curfews as communicated by ASU staff.
11. Media Release and Photography Consent
By participating in the program, you grant permission to ASU to photograph or record videos of you during program activities, and to use these photographs or recordings for legitimate university purposes such as promotional materials, social media, or reports, without any compensation to you. You consent to ASU’s worldwide, royalty-free use of your image, likeness, or voice in any media format related to the program. You also waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or any accompanying text that may be used in conjunction with your images.
12. Acknowledgment of Understanding
You acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to carefully review these Terms & Conditions and to seek independent advice or legal counsel if desired. By agreeing to these Terms, you confirm that you fully understand their content and that you are accepting them freely and voluntarily, without any inducement or pressure. Your electronic agreement to these Terms (through the registration process) indicates that you willingly consent to all the above provisions and agree to be bound by them.
By submitting your registration and payment, you certify that you agree to all the above Terms and Conditions.
