The programme is designed to holders of a diploma or associate degree from the Kingdom of Bahrain or its equivalent from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, provided the relevant authorities accredit the qualification in the issuing country.
The students study the discipline of Architectural Engineering to Honors degree level and to have the opportunity to achieve the professional status of Chartered Engineer. This programme is designed to embrace developments in the industry, in particular the ECUK UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).
Upon successful completion of the degree programme, a student will be awarded two sets of certificates and transcripts – one from LSBU and one from ASU.

The BEng (Hons) Architectural Engineering Bridging Programme aims to:
- Cultivating Essential Career Skills: The focus is to develop students’ core academic knowledge, personal agility, and essential employability skills so that they can confidently adapt to the evolving demands of a dynamic labor market.
- Fostering Interdisciplinary Expertise: Students gain a unique blend of architectural and civil engineering knowledge, learning to explore both the form and aesthetic of buildings alongside the necessary analysis, design, and construction principles.
- Preparing for Complex Projects: Students are exposed to a variety of construction professions and practical scenarios to prepare them for collaborative roles. Graduates will be equipped to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, serving as a essential link between engineering and architectural professionals.
- Developing Whole-Design Thinkers: Graduates will have a holistic awareness of the entire design-to-completion process, encompassing project management, quality assurance, finance, and critical issues such as ethical conduct, environmental sustainability, and health & safety.
- Achieving Professional Readiness: Graduates are equipped with the deep knowledge, robust problem-solving skills, and practical know-how necessary for immediate professional impact, ensuring they have the full educational foundation for a successful career in the industry.

In order to be considered for entry to the programme applicants will be required to have the following qualifications:
Bridging Requirements for Level 5 (Year 3):
- The applicant must hold a diploma or associate degree from the Kingdom of Bahrain or its equivalent from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, provided the relevant authorities accredit the qualification in the issuing country.
- The applicant’s cumulative GPA must not be less than “Good” or its equivalent. If the cumulative GPA is lower than the required minimum, the student must either provide evidence of at least one year of relevant professional experience or pass a number of remedial modules according to the specialization.
- The applicant’s previous specialization must qualify them to study in the programme they wish to join.
- Students holding qualifications from professional or vocational programmes (National Diploma – ND or Higher National Diploma – HND or equivalent) are required to pass a number of remedial modules according to the specialization.
- The applicant must have obtained a score of 6 or higher in IELTS or its equivalent.
- Appropriate English support mechanisms are available based on the initial OOPT test score.
